Following a close working campaign with Ballycanew Ballyoughter Development Association, Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District Council, Wexford County Council Access and our local Councillor PIP Breen, our efforts to get a dangerous footpath in the village fixed is coming into action at the monet. We are delighted to hear that at a recent meeting of the Gorey / Kilmuckridge District Council that funding has finally been put in place for the narrow section between “One for the Road” pub, The Ramble Inn and Brooks Supermarket to be officially addressed and made safe for pedestrians.
For many local people in the village who walk along the footpath will know the dangers our traffic often crossing over the road markings and travelling over the drain, leaving little or no space for people walking, kids with bikes, parents with push prams etc. We have witnessed many near misses over the years and this is very much welcomed to the village by all the committee of the Ballycanew Ballyoughter Development Association and we look forward to seeing the health and safety of pedestrians in our village improved.
